Meet Bryony | Pilates Teacher in Whitton, Chiswick & SW London

Hello, I’m Bryony. For 25 years I have been helping people move with more strength, ease, and confidence through precise, thoughtful Pilates teaching.

I teach in Whitton Community Centre, St Michael’s Church in Chiswick, online via Zoom, and privately in my fully equipped home studio here in Whitton, Twickenham. I also travel to clients’ homes across Twickenham, Richmond, and surrounding areas.

My classes span the full spectrum of Pilates practice. Gentle, rehabilitative work for those managing pain or recovering from injury sits alongside sports-specific training for runners, golfers, and performance-focused movers. What you will not find here is generic programming or a session that feels like it could belong to anyone.

I check in constantly, adapt in the moment, and pay close attention to how your body is actually responding, not just how it looked last week. Every exercise has a reason, and that reason is specific to you. Precise, informed Pilates that meets you where you are and moves you forward from there.

My Journey into Pilates

I didn’t start out in the fitness world.

Originally, I wanted to be a vet, and I studied maths and sciences at school before working in corporate roles in accountancy and distribution. But desk work and gym injuries made me realise how easy it is to lose strength, mobility, and confidence in your body.

Pilates changed everything for me.

Years of training, continued learning, and my own experience of recovery and rebuilding gave me a depth of understanding that I bring to every session. My focus is practical and precise: helping people move better, recover well, and stay strong for the long term

My Teaching Philosophy

Pilates at its best is personal and practical, and it should challenge you in exactly the right ways. That is what you will find here, every session.

My aim in every session is the same: to tailor the Pilates work to your body, your goals, and how you are feeling that day. I want you to understand your movement well enough to thrive independently, and to progress in a way that is meaningful for you, whether that means gentle rebuilding or something more demanding.

  • Bryony’s online Pilates classes are perfect for me. Convenient and easy to fit into a busy schedule but there is no compromise on personal attention as Bryony’s expert eagle eye sees everything and she is very sensitive to everybody’s individual needs. Professional safe hands with a fun and informal delivery.

  • Best experience with Pilates in a group ! After years of doing Pilates in a gym and privately on reformer I found this combination of online and in class formula really effective. Bryony is an excellent teacher very knowledgeable about the physiology as well as hands on demonstration going from one person to next. You feel the difference! Online she is monitoring our cameras and giving feedback when needed. A great class! Full of energy annd humour and immediate results!

  • I've known Bryony for many years and have attended Pilates classes as well as one to one reformer pilates sessions with her. I've always considered Bryony's pilates an essential part of my wellbeing, and it was an integral part of my recovery after a car accident a few years ago. I've joined Bryony for a pilates retreat in November, which was absolutely fantastic. Bryony teaches in a very easy to understand manner, she is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and hands-on. I consider the retreat as a highlight of my wellbeing journey and loved every minute, I can't wait for the next retreat.

  • I have been doing Pilates regularly for about 20 yrs, mainly in gym classes. When the pandemic came, I started running more but I missed my Pilates classes. Bryony had always been my favourite Pilates teacher but she had moved on from my local gym. Luckily I learned she was doing zoom Pilates during the pandemic. Zoom classes have advantages. Bryony checks everyone in at start of class. You can report injuries and niggles. She will adapt the class to fit in an exercise/stretch that helps to sort your problem. The smaller classes mean more individual attention.

  • I like the way she often builds to a full exercise by working on the individual parts first. You get to practice all the movements before putting them together. I find this helps me to appreciate what muscles I'm using and what I should feel when doing the exercises. Bryony gets you working all parts of your body from neck to toes. (I like the spiky balls for my toes.) She gives personalized tips and variations, challenging you to work just that bit harder and encouraging you to do your best. I have had classes with a variety of good Pilates teachers but for me Bryony is simply the BEST!

  • Bryony's eagle eyes see everything! Professional safe hands with a fun delivery.

Specialist Training & Experience

My training and experience spans:

  • Classical & contemporary Pilates

  • Reformer & studio equipment

  • Rehabilitation and injury prevention

  • Menopause, cancer recovery, autoimmune support, osteoporosis

  • Pre/postnatal Pilates

  • Foot mechanics, fascia, biomechanics

This foundation means I can work with you through chronic illness, post-injury rebuilding, life transitions, or sport performance, with the kind of nuanced understanding that only comes from having been there myself.

My own experience of illness, injury, and recovery informs how I listen, how I adapt, and how I support people through their own challenges.

A Lived Understanding of Women’s Health

Bryony, expert Pilates instructor, with short dark hair, glasses, and a white tank top smiling outdoors with hills, trees, and cloudy sky in the background.
Hello!

Women's health sits at the heart of what I do. Whether you are navigating perimenopause, postnatal recovery, prolapse, chronic fatigue, or hormonal changes that are affecting how you move and feel, this is a space where none of that needs explaining. My Pilates classes are designed around your real life, with tailored programming, individual attention, and a genuinely supportive community around you throughout.

My own experience of gynaecological health challenges, surgical recovery, breast cancer, osteopenia, and hypermobility means I understand what it is to rebuild from the inside out. That shapes everything about how I work with people navigating their own health journeys, from pelvic floor reconnection and post-surgical recovery, to fatigue management, bone health, hormonal balance, and safe movement with hypermobility.

Beyond the Studio

Outside of teaching, movement is still very much part of my life. You will find me at the gym, out on long walks, or deepening my own Yin Yoga and Pilates practice. I am also a devoted cat owner, which accounts for a significant portion of my time. All of it feeds the same belief that bodies are meant to stay strong, mobile, and full of life, for as long as possible.

Let’s Work Together
Whether you are completely new to Pilates or looking to develop a more serious practice, you are welcome here. No particular level of fitness or flexibility is needed, just a willingness to show up. From there, we work out what progress looks like for you and build towards it properly.
