Meet Bryony: Your Pilates Teacher in Whitton
Hello, I’m Bryony and I’ve been helping people move with more strength, ease, and confidence for 25 years.
I teach in Whitton Community Centre, St Michael’s Church in Chiswick, online via Zoom, and privately in my fully equipped home studio here in Whitton, Twickenham. I also travel to clients’ homes across Twickenham, Richmond, and surrounding areas.
My classes range from gentle, rehabilitative Pilates to sports-specific training for runners, golfers and, well anyone really - I always tailor to the person in front of me. I’ve trained for and completed a marathon, so I know first-hand how targeted Pilates can improve performance and prevent injury.
My Journey into Pilates
I didn’t start out in the fitness world.
Originally, I wanted to be a vet, and I studied maths and sciences at school before working in corporate roles in accountancy and distribution. But years of desk work and a few gym-related injuries made me realise how easy it is to lose strength, mobility, and confidence in your body.
That’s when I discovered Pilates. It completely changed how I moved, how I felt, and how I approached my own health. I knew I wanted to help others experience that same transformation so I trained extensively and never stopped learning.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe Pilates should be personal, practical, and challenging in the right ways.
My aim is to:
Adapt sessions so they work for your body, your goals, and your energy that day
Educate you so you understand your movement and can look after yourself between sessions
Progress you so you never feel like you’re going through the motions, whether you need gentle rebuilding or high-level challenge
In my home studio, I use Reformer, Tower, CardioTramp Rebounder, Split Pedal Stability Chair, Arc Barrel, and a full range of small equipment to help you move better, target specific areas, and keep things varied.
Specialist Training & Experience
Over the past 25 years, I’ve trained in:
Classical & Contemporary Pilates
Reformer & studio equipment Pilates
Pilates for rehabilitation and injury prevention
Pilates for menopause, cancer recovery, autoimmune support, and osteoporosis
Pre- and postnatal Pilates
Foot mechanics, fascia release, and biomechanics
This breadth of training means I can work with you whether you’re navigating chronic illness, building strength post-injury, or looking to perform better in your sport.
My work is shaped not only by professional training, but by lived experience.
From a young age, I’ve navigated complex gynaecological health, including PCOS, adenomyosis, links with endometriosis and fibroids, and multiple surgeries in my twenties. I’ve been through IVF myself, understanding both the hope it carries and the reality when treatment doesn’t go as planned, along with the physical impact of intense hormonal intervention.
I’ve also experienced a total abdominal hysterectomy, giving me first-hand insight into abdominal recovery, pelvic health and the sensations many women struggle to articulate. Prolapse is another area close to my heart, something far more common than we’re led to believe, and one where the right support can make a profound difference.
More recently, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and have undergone a mastectomy, with treatment still ongoing. Pilates continues to support me through recovery, helping me stay connected, strong and grounded during uncertainty. Following treatment, I’ve also been diagnosed with osteopenia, sharpening my focus on bone health, strength and resilience through menopause and beyond.
I don’t offer quick fixes. What I offer is informed, compassionate teaching, shaped by real experience of illness, recovery and adaptation, supporting women to feel safer, stronger and more at home in their bodies.
A lived understanding of women’s health
Beyond the Studio
When I’m not teaching, you’ll often find me outdoors, enjoying long walks, exploring new places, and like most Pilates teachers, still studying. I’m endlessly curious about how the human body works and how we can keep it strong, mobile, and pain-free for life.
Let’s Work Together
Whether you’re brand new to Pilates or ready to take your practice further, I’d love to help. You don’t need to be flexible or strong to start, just open to moving in ways that help you feel better, now and in the future.
